Channel settings

This page

Set up a single Channel — its branding, header, schedule (which Playlist plays at what time), Wi-Fi override and emergency info. The status under the title shows whether the Channel is currently connected.

Settings, hierarchy and Wi-Fi

Settings covers the name, visibility (public or staff only), orientation, resolution and timezone. Hierarchy shows the Site this Channel belongs to (fixed at creation) and lets you place it in an Area and Zone. Wi-Fi Override lets this one Channel use different guest or private networks instead of inheriting its Site's.

Playlist: the Channel's own rotation

A Channel carries its own playlist — the rotation of Boards it plays, board 1, then 2, then 3, and back to the start. There's no separate Playlists page: everything is right here, on the Playlist tab.

Adding and reordering Boards

Drag a Board from the Board library on the right into the playlist, or click its + button to add it to the end of the rotation. Drag within the playlist to reorder. To sell part of the loop to advertisers, add an Ad Board from the top of the library — it's a paid placement, not a Board of your own content.

Durations and transition

Each board's duration (in seconds) is editable directly on its card. An ad slot's duration is locked instead — it's set by the Ad Space you pick for it. The Transition and transition duration fields above the rotation set the effect used moving from one item to the next: fade, slide, or cut.

Loop length and ad share

The playlist card's header shows how many items you have, the total loop length, and an Ads badge with your current ad share percentage, updating live as you edit. If ad share goes over your organisation's ad cap the badge turns red — a warning, not a block.

Time-of-day slots

The default playlist plays all day unless you add a time slot to override it during a specific window (e.g. a lunch menu from 12:00–14:00). A slot only needs a start time and an end time — adding one creates a fresh, empty playlist just for that window, with its own Board rotation below it. There's no picking an existing playlist for a slot; each one gets its own.

When a playlist is shared with another Channel

A playlist created before this change might still be shared by more than one Channel. When that's the case, a note appears above the editor naming the other Channels — editing here changes what plays on those too. Click Make a copy for this Channel to give this Channel its own independent copy instead; the original keeps playing unchanged wherever it already did.

Display hours, sleep and wake

Set operating hours for each day of the week — the Channel sleeps outside those windows and wakes automatically at the start of the next one. Need to override that right now? Use Force sleep or Force wake in the Remote Control panel below.

Remote control panel

Live controls for whatever's connected to this Channel right now: Prev/Pause/Next to step through the current playlist, Go to board to jump straight to a specific board, and Force sleep/Force wake for power. The panel also shows the active board, how many displays are connected, and when they last synced.

These controls are disabled until a display is actively connected — there's nothing to send the command to otherwise.

Status colours

Online — the Channel has checked in within the last few minutes.

Offline — no check-in for a while. The Channel might be powered off, the tab closed, or the internet is down.

Keeping things up to date

The status refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. Hit the button to refresh now.

We give every Channel a few minutes of grace before marking it offline so transient blips don't make your dashboard flicker.
