The board editor
The layout editor is where you build a board from scratch: a canvas grid you drop, position, resize and configure widgets on. It only opens for boards created without a template ("Layout Builder"). A template-based board is edited from its own board page instead.
The canvas
The canvas is a grid at your board's actual screen resolution, scaled to fit your window. Set the columns, rows and gap between cells in the toolbar, and pick a resolution preset or zoom level from the dropdowns above the canvas. Use Fit zoom to see the whole board, or a fixed percentage to check detail.
Adding and moving widgets
- Open the Widgets panel (click its edge tab if closed).
- Click a widget to drop it onto the canvas, or drag it to the spot you want.
- Click a widget on the canvas to select it, drag to move it, or drag its corner handle to resize it.
- With a widget selected, press Delete to remove it, or Ctrl/Cmd+D to duplicate it.
Both floating panels drag by their header to wherever suits you, and close with × for a clear view of the canvas.
Widget categories
- Layout: Row, Column, Grid and Spacer, for arranging other widgets.
- Typography: Text, Heading, Rich Text, Label Badge and Price Tag.
- Time: Clock, Date Display and Countdown.
- Weather: current conditions and forecast.
- Media: Image, Video, Slideshow, Media Gallery and YouTube embeds.
- Content: Menu List and Announcement List, each linked to a content source.
- Info: WiFi Info, QR codes and similar reference widgets.
- Rooms: Room Status, Bookings, Opening Hours and Current Class.
- Emergency: Alert Banner and Missing Person, for life-safety signage.
- Decoration: Divider, Icon and overlay widgets.
- Utility: Spacer and other structural helpers.
Use the search box or category chips at the top of the Widgets panel to find one quickly.
The settings panel
Select a widget to open its settings on the right: its properties (text, colours, size and so on), plus Position & Size fields for exact placement. A content widget (Menu List or Announcement List, for example) also gets a Content source field to pick its feed, with filters to narrow it further.
With nothing selected, the same panel shows Board settings instead: name, display title, theme, fullscreen and brand. Follow Full board settings to reach content bindings, tags, currency and publish status, which live on the board's own page rather than here.
Preview, save and undo
- Click Preview to see the board as it will display, in place of the editable canvas; click Edit to switch back, or use the external-link icon to preview in a new tab.
- Click Save, or press Ctrl/Cmd+S. An "Unsaved" chip by the board name shows when changes are still unsaved.
- Undo and redo (the arrow icons, Ctrl/Cmd+Z and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z) step back and forward through your layout changes.
Leaving the editor with unsaved changes prompts you to confirm before discarding them.
