Webhooks
A webhook is a web address that another system can send data to, instantly pushing that data to a board or a Channel the moment it arrives. Use it for anything that needs to appear on a board straight away, rather than waiting for a scheduled feed.
Setting up a webhook
- Click Add webhook.
- Choose the Linked board or Linked channel that should receive what this webhook sends. Leave either as None if you don't need it.
- Set a Rate limit in calls per second, to protect against a source that sends too often.
- Save, then copy the endpoint URL from the table using the copy icon next to it.
When it fires, and secrets
A webhook fires the moment an external system sends a JSON request to its endpoint URL; there's no polling or delay. That URL itself contains a private key that identifies this webhook, so treat the whole address as a secret: anyone who has it can send data to it (up to your rate limit) without any further password or login. If a URL leaks, delete that webhook and create a new one to get a fresh address.
Testing a webhook
There's no test button on this page. To test one, send a sample JSON request to the copied URL from the system you're connecting, or from a tool such as Postman or curl, then check the Last received column updates.
What the status means
- Active: the webhook accepts requests.
- Inactive: requests to its URL are rejected until you switch it back on.
