Places
Places are named lists of facilities, attractions, rooms or destinations: each has a status (open, closed, busy, out of order or quiet), an optional wait time, a location line, a photo and a pin you place on a map image. Use this page for boards that show where things are and whether they are open, such as facilities, wayfinding or room availability boards.
What it's great for
Places suits anywhere with several named spots whose status changes through the day: a leisure centre marking which pool or court is open, busy or closed right now, or a museum showing which exhibits are open.
Leisure centres, swimming pools and museums stand to get the most from it, since their facilities move between open, closed, busy and quiet several times a day. No board in the catalog reads this content type yet, so a Places list you build today is ready content waiting for that board.
How to create a list
- Select New places.
- Give the list a Name (this is for your own reference, it is not shown on the board).
- Select Add place for each place you want to list.
- Fill in each place's fields, then select Create.
Place fields
Each place has the following fields:
- Name: the place's name, e.g. "Swimming pool".
- Status: Open, Closed, Busy, Out of order or Quiet. The board shows this as a coloured chip.
- Status note: free text shown beside the chip, e.g. opening hours or "Reopens Monday".
- Location: a floor, direction or distance, e.g. "Lower ground".
- Wait (min): an optional wait time in minutes. Leave this blank when there is no wait to show.
- Photo: an optional image shown alongside the place.
Ordering and reordering
Places appear on the board in the order shown in the editor, top to bottom. Use the up and down arrows on a place to move it, and the x button to remove it. The new order is saved when you select Create or Save.
Map and pins
Upload a map or floor plan image under Map, then use the pin editor below the place rows: choose which place you are placing a pin for, then click (or drag an existing pin) on the image to set its position. A numbered key lets a board match each pin to its place. Select Clear pin to remove a place's pin without removing the place itself. The map image belongs to the whole list, not to an individual place, because every pin sits on the same plan.
Where places appear
Once a list is saved, it is available to link to a board whose template accepts Places, the same way you link a timetable or a menu. The Places column on the list page tells you how many places are in each list, so you can check a list at a glance before opening it.
