Emergency alerts

An emergency alert overrides normal playback on your displays with an urgent message. Use it for anything that needs immediate attention: a safety incident, a missing person, a lockdown, or a closure.

How to trigger an alert

  1. Click a Quick trigger template for a one-click alert with sensible defaults already filled in, or click Custom alert to start from scratch.
  2. Set the Title and, optionally, a Message with further instructions.
  3. For a missing-person template, add their name, a photo, age or description, what they were wearing, when and where they were last seen, and who to report sightings to.
  4. Choose a Level (see below) and a Scope: Organisation, a Site, or a single Channel.
  5. Optionally pick a board to override the default. Leave it blank and the system uses the default emergency board for that level.
  6. Click Trigger alert. Affected displays switch immediately.

Alert levels

Critical: the most urgent. Use for immediate safety issues.

Warning: important, but less urgent.

Info: informational notices.

Ending an alert

Active alerts appear under Active alerts, and in a banner at the top of the page while any are live. Click Deactivate to restore normal playback on every display it affected. Past alerts move to History, where Re-trigger fires the same alert again with one click.

Triggering from the phone app

In the NowBoard Operator App, open Emergency and choose a scope: your current Channel, its Site, or the whole Organisation. Tap a template, then a 3-second countdown starts before it fires: tap Cancel during the countdown to abort. Active and past alerts are also visible there, and you can clear an active one from the Active tab.

Which plan includes this

Emergency alerts are available on the Professional plan and above.
