Dates for people

Use Dates for people for birthdays, anniversaries, welcomes, farewells and milestones — the individual dates that feed the newer Celebrations board. Each entry has a name, a kind, a date, an optional photo and note, and a switch for dates that repeat every year.

What it's great for

Dates for people suits any workplace or venue that likes to mark birthdays, anniversaries and milestones on screen: an office's birthdays and work anniversaries, or a care home's celebrations for residents.

Care homes, schools, offices, gyms and hotels get the most from it through celebrations-v2, which turns the next two weeks of dates into a card for each person, complete with photo and a years count for a repeating birthday or anniversary.

How to create a list

  1. Select New.
  2. Give the list a Name (this is for your own reference, it is not shown on the board).
  3. Select Add entry for each person you want, then select Create.

Entry fields

Each entry has the following fields:

  • Kind: Birthday, Anniversary, Welcome, Farewell or Milestone. Choosing Birthday or Anniversary turns Repeats every year on by default; the others default to off.
  • Name: the person (or people) the date is for.
  • Date: the date it happens. For a repeating birthday or anniversary, enter the first year it happened — the board works out the years count for you automatically.
  • Repeats every year: on for a date that comes round every year, off for a one-off such as a welcome or a farewell.
  • Note: a short line shown under the name, such as "Cake in the lounge at 3pm".
  • Photo: pick or upload a photo from the Media library. Leave it blank and the board shows the person's initials instead.

Ordering entries

Entries are saved in the order shown in the editor. Use the up and down arrows on an entry to move it, and the x button to remove it. The new order is saved when you select Create or Save.

Where this appears

Link a list to a board on the newer Celebrations template and it shows the entries whose date falls in the next two weeks, soonest first, with today's marked and the years count shown for a repeating birthday or anniversary. The Entries column on the list page tells you how many dates are in each list, so you can check one at a glance before opening it.
