Announcements

Use this page for notices and alerts you want to push to your boards: closures, one-off events, or anything time-sensitive. Each announcement can carry its own schedule, priority and image, and appears as a card on any board it's linked to.

What it's great for

Announcements suit anything time-sensitive that needs to rotate on screen: a closure notice, a one-off event, or a health tip between patients.

GP surgeries, care homes, gyms and schools get the most from it through health-tips-v1, a calm rotation of short, readable messages for a waiting room or corridor. Healthcare venues, shops and offices use queue-wait-time-v1 to pair a now-serving number with the latest notices, which suits a GP surgery's reception desk as well as a shop's till area.

How to create an announcement

  1. Select New Announcement in the top right.
  2. Enter a Title (required) and an optional Message.
  3. Choose a Priority, and set a Category and Tags if you use them.
  4. Set a date range and, if needed, times of day (see Scheduling below).
  5. Add an image if you want one, then select Create.

Scheduling

Set Start date and End date to control when the announcement runs. You can also narrow it to part of the day with Show from and Show until (time of day); leave both blank to show all day. Times apply on every day within the date range. Leave both dates blank and the announcement has no date range: it runs for as long as it's published.

Priority

Every announcement has one of three priorities, shown as a coloured badge on its card and as a coloured strip down the left edge:

Normal: routine notices.

High: worth extra attention.

Urgent: time-critical alerts.

Filter the list by priority using the Priority dropdown in the filter bar.

Expiry

The End date is the announcement's expiry: once it passes, the announcement stops appearing on boards even though it still exists in this list. To keep something showing indefinitely, leave End date blank. A card with no dates set at all shows No date range in its date summary.

Statuses

The Published toggle on the form decides whether an announcement can appear on boards at all, independently of its schedule:

Published: shown on screens (subject to its date range).

Hidden: switched off; its card carries a grey Hidden tag in this list and it won't appear on any board.

Filtering and categories

Use Active or All at the top to switch between currently running announcements and every announcement you've created. Select Filters to search by title or message and narrow by priority or category. Manage the list of categories and tags from the cog button next to New Announcement.
