Boards

A board is a screen layout: what your screens actually display. Boards is where you see every board your organisation has created, filter down to the one you want, and start a new one. Open a board from here to edit its settings, or to reach its layout editor.

Creating a board

  1. Click New Board.
  2. Either pick a ready-made template from the grid (use search, sector or content-type filters to narrow it down, and the eye icon to preview one before choosing), or click Layout Builder to open a blank board straight in the layout editor.
  3. If you picked a template, give the board a name, choose its theme (light or dark) and its visibility (Public or Staff-only), then click Create board.

A Protected template is compliance-related emergency signage. You can still create a board from one, but edit it carefully once created, since it may affect life-safety information.

The boards list

Each board card shows a thumbnail preview, its name, template, visibility and when it was last updated. Click a card to open that board. Two icons appear on hover:

  • The refresh icon on the thumbnail regenerates that board's preview image.
  • The trash icon deletes the board, after you confirm. This cannot be undone.

Filtering the list

Click Filters to search by name or tag, and narrow the list by status, template or visibility. Tags you have used appear as chips below the filter bar so you can toggle them on and off; the result count updates as you filter, and Clear filters resets everything.

What the statuses mean

  • Draft: saved but not shown as visible content elsewhere.
  • Published: live, and eligible to be shown on a screen or added to a playlist.
  • Archived: retired, kept for reference.

Open a board to change its status; see the board's own help for how.

When a board's template updates

If a board's look changes on its own, or you want to move a board onto a newer version of its template, see Why did my board change? and Moving a board to a newer template in Help.
