Live figures
A Live figures set is a named group of labelled numbers with a unit, an optional target and an optional trend — a queue wait time, days since an incident, a pool temperature, an occupancy count or a stock level. Use this for waiting rooms, receptions, pools, warehouses, gyms and safety boards. A board shows the set as a row of tiles or as one big hero figure.
What it's great for
Live figures suits any single number worth watching: a warehouse's days-since-last-incident counter, or a swimming pool's water temperature.
Factories and warehouses and swimming pools stand to get the most from it — a safety count or a pool reading is exactly a labelled number with a unit and a trend. No board in the catalog reads this content type yet, so a Live figures set you build today is ready content waiting for that board.
How to create a Live figures set
- Select New Live figures.
- Give the set a Name (this is for your own reference, it is not shown on the board).
- Select Add figure for each figure you want to add, then select Create.
Figure fields
Each figure has the following fields:
- Label: required, for example "Estimated wait" or "Now serving".
- Value: a number, for example 15 or 29.5, or a short piece of text such as a ticket number, for example A042. Leave it blank for a figure with no value yet — it is shown with a dash instead.
- Unit: shown after the value, for example "min" or "°C".
- Target: an optional number the value is measured against, for example 200 for an occupancy count out of 200. A board shows this as "of 200" with a progress bar.
- Trend: an optional up, down or flat arrow.
- Last changed: read-only. Updates automatically whenever you change a figure's value and save — a board can show "Updated 3 min ago" underneath it.
Reordering figures
Drag a figure by its handle to change the order it appears in on the board. Values change on the board the moment you save. A Data Source feed can update these figures automatically later.
Where these sets appear
Once a set is saved, it can be linked from any board whose template supports Live figures, the same way a board links a timetable or a menu. The template draws the set as a row of tiles (label, value, unit, target and trend) or as one large hero figure filling the space. The Figures column on the list page tells you how many figures are in each set, so you can check a set at a glance before opening it. As with Ranked lists and Info Cards, a set that is still in draft status still shows on a board that links it.
