Opening Times

An opening times entry defines a weekly pattern of hours (with an optional per-day note), plus date-specific exceptions such as bank holidays or one-off closures. Create one for an organisation, then reuse it wherever opening hours need to be shown or checked.

What it's great for

Opening times suit anywhere a visitor needs to know when you're open: a shop's hours by the door, or a care home's visiting hours in the corridor.

Retail, leisure, hotel, office, care and healthcare venues all use opening-times-v1 for a today-at-a-glance board with the full week underneath. Care homes and hospitals use visiting-hours-v1 for the same pattern read as visiting sessions rather than trading hours, and GP surgeries, care homes and offices use waiting-room-v1, which pairs the week's hours with notices and a live clock for a waiting area.

How to create opening times

  1. Select New opening times in the top right.
  2. Enter a Name (required), for example "Main opening hours".
  3. Optionally set a Timezone; leave it blank to inherit from the Site or Channel.
  4. Choose Simple or Advanced mode and set the weekly hours.
  5. Add any exceptions, such as holiday closures, if needed.
  6. Select Create to save.

Simple and Advanced modes

Simple gives each day a single open and close time, a Closed toggle, and an optional note (for example "kitchen closes 21:30"). Advanced lets a day hold several named sessions instead, such as Morning, Afternoon and Evening: use Morning / Afternoon / Evening to fill in that preset, or Add session to add a custom one with its own label, open and close time.

Weekly hours

Each of the seven days has a toggle showing its current state: Open or Closed. Once a day's hours are set, select its copy icon to open a popover and copy that day's hours, sessions and note onto one or more other days (or use Select all), then select Apply.

Exceptions and holidays

The Exceptions section holds date-specific overrides, such as bank holidays or a one-off closure. Select Add date for a blank row, or UK bank holidays to quick-fill New Year's Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day for the current year (it skips any dates already added). Each exception has its own date, Closed toggle, sessions (Simple or Advanced, matching the mode above) and note, and the list is kept sorted by date.

Editing and deleting

The list shows each entry's Name and a Summary, for example "5 days open · 2 exception(s) · multi-session". Select the pencil icon to reopen and edit an entry, or the trash icon to delete it; you'll be asked to confirm, and deletion cannot be undone. Use the search box above the list to filter by name.
