RSS feeds
An RSS feed pulls headlines from a news site or blog onto your boards. Pick a curated source from the recommendations list, or add any RSS address of your own.
Adding a feed
- Click Add feed.
- On From recommendations, click Add next to any curated source to add it with its logo and label already set.
- Or switch to Custom URL and fill in a name, the feed's RSS address, an optional display label and logo, then set Refresh (mins) and Max items.
- Use Exclude keywords to drop items containing certain words, and Exclude topics to have items about those topics filtered out automatically. Separate entries with a comma or a new line.
- Save. Click the eye icon on any feed to preview the items it has pulled in.
What the statuses mean
- OK: the last sync finished without errors.
- Running: a sync is in progress right now.
- Error: the last sync failed. Check the feed's address, then try the refresh icon again.
- Idle: no sync has run yet, or the feed is switched off.
Refresh timing
NowBoard checks feeds automatically several times an hour, but only fetches a given feed once its own Refresh (mins) setting says it's due, so a feed set to 30 minutes won't be re-fetched sooner than that. Use the refresh icon on a feed's row to sync it immediately.
Where items show
Items pulled in by a feed are available to add to your boards. Max items caps how many recent items are kept per feed; older ones drop off automatically as new ones arrive. Deleting a feed keeps items already fetched, but they stop updating.
